The Earthworm Jim Special Edition was released in 1995, a year after the original.
It was based off the Genesis/Mega Drive version, it contains the entirety of its levels, in addition to some all-inclusive extended levels, for example, New Junk City Part 2. There is likewise a totally new level added to the Special Edition, titled "Big Bruty", a new remixed CD soundtrack, as well as around 1,000 additional frames of in-game animations.
